I am curious about this one:

All my research can pull up no evidence of copyright renewal (I checked both the Stanford.edu database and the LOC's database) and it seems that it would have had to have been renewed since it was published before 1963. A search on Merrigold Press shows that most of their books that were renewed were renewed by companies who held trademarks to the characters used (such as Barbie and Hanna Barbara), but I can find no records on this particular title.

I actually don't really understand the lending library and was trying to find out more about it. Are some of these books in the public domain? Ones that can only be lended? Is it a case of not being sure of PD status or is it a case of them just being unavailable for download?

Thanks!
